City of Light

Light has broken
on the bridges of the Seine.
Piercing phantoms
of sound remain.
We struggle to breathe
in the stillness, decimation
Let our tears cry down
the sun
the stars
the pain
till luminescence afflicts our hearts
and we are struck
by the gift of life
still here
in wounded memory
